Not long after finishing Scarab Miniatures Rameses II leader figure, I spotted this version from Lucid Eye, perhaps that little bit more warlike.... And more imposing on the tabletop.
I guess they can squabble over who is the true leader of the New Kingdom. Coming in at £1.80 vs £6.50 you pays your money and you takes your choice.
Whilst I feel the new Pharaoh is a little on the expensive side, I guess I can balance the ledger with the 3D printed arrows which were free. They make great ammo markers for the missile units within Infamy Infamy.
The new Rameses is a cracking sculpt, but I fear I would be too worried about damaging the figure during a game. The older one much more practicable and possibly more historically accurate? As you say, you pays your money...
ReplyDeleteOnly myself to blame Steve at the moment as we are stuck in solo play.... I have not even but the ancients away in their storage box, as they have no where to go. Still the vaccine count is going up....

The new Rameses looks superb if perhaps a little on the Heroic side.
ReplyDeleteGood for skirmish type games... but agreed not your regular pose for Egyptian leaders.

Both look fine to me and one can certainly act as a subordinate officer in a larger game 👍
ReplyDeleteThat's what I was thinking.

Yes these are both nice figures Stu but I don't see enough difference in quality to justify three times the cost....
ReplyDeleteInteresting times for the market, with quite a few of the heroic castings gettering the fray, but you would be hard pressed to make an army out of them, unless you won the lottery.

Great paint work on your Pharaohs!
ReplyDeleteThe Lucid Eye one is best hands down.
Lucid Eye make some great figures, I have several for my VSF gaming, mind you they are slightly bigger but not too much so they can’t be used.
Lovely figures agreed, I have some of their sea people, I will post up soon, they compare really well to Northstar.

Gosh, £6.50, just as well you don't need a unit of them (him)! It is a beautiful figure though, so I can see why you took the plunge. Particularly since you have painted him so well (mind you, for £6.50 I'd expect it to come pre-painted!!).
